Principles and techniques of metal cutting, process planning and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) part programming will be applied in MasterCAM software. The student will learn how to define 2D + 3D geometric elements, create tool paths, and verify the results, all this in milling applications on a three-axis computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool. Special stress is on CNC code (G-code) file correctness. Some projects will be cut. The student is expected to follow safe work procedures developed for the lab and all machines used in this course.
