This course provides students with a critical, in-depth understanding of child abuse issues including its causes, forms and impacts. In addition to developing a critical awareness of child abuse issues, students gain an introductory skill set to understand their roles and responsibilities as child and youth care professionals in relation to working with children and adult survivors of abuse. The framework of resiliency is used throughout the course to highlight clients' courage, abilities and strengths.
