Academic Year

2016-2017

This course blends knowledge and principles of design with creative applications and esthetic considerations of the photographic medium. Introductions to composition, framing and clarity of visual communication are all examined to inform both studio and location practice. Perspective, point of view, and line and form all shape our images that can create empathy and an emotional response from the viewer, providing meaning and context to each image. Professional photographers must be able to predict, or pre-visualize, what the final photograph is going to look like while viewing the original subject. This course gives the student a comprehensive understanding of photographic composition fundamentals through visual or perceptual examination.
