With the rapid changes to digital in photographic imaging, students can learn a great deal from the creativity and craftsmanship of past photographers and their techniques. Ideas of light and dark, highlight and shadow, continue to form the fundamental of photographic practice. This course will examine the historical significance, aesthetic, and technical properties of past photographic processes from the salted print to the platinum palladium and beyond. Throughout this course, students gain hands on experience creating one of kind photographic prints.
