The course will introduce students to core legal issues that are relevant to a financial planning practice including family law, trusts and estates law, and property law, and will also provide a review of the ethical and practice standards mandated by the Financial Planning Standards Council. In addition, the course includes an overview of the Canadian legal system and the fundamentals of tort and contract law, and the different methods of carrying on a business.
