Low Energy Building Systems

Course Code

SNRG 204

Academic Year

2016-2017

This course takes the principles of solar energy, thermodynamics and building science from previous courses and applies them to real-world building applications. Through fundamental concepts of solar resource, heat transfer, and air flow, students will critically assess the factors that affect building energy use such as building orientation and layout, building materials and assemblies, and passive heating and cooling strategies. The course will finish with solar thermal technologies and applications. Access to real-world examples of low-energy buildings and low-energy systems is integral to the course.
