2016-2017

This course will provide students with cumulative learning experience through the development of a creative portfolio and the structure within which to explore their creativity as a visual artist working today. Students will develop strategies for showcasing their art and marketing and promoting themselves across a range of established and evolving platforms. A self-directed research project on a community institution will connect each student-artist to creative professionals who can provide guidance on how to navigate a career in a given creative field. Working alongside their peers, students will collaborate and contribute to the development of the Visual and Digital Arts graduate exhibition through its conceptualization, marketing, administration, and gallery installation. Resources on how to maintain a studio, navigate Canadian Copyright legislation, income tax, budgeting, and funding will be provided to supplement course material.
