This course is a three-part, module-based course that provides students with a comprehensive overview of three important sectors of the event industry fundraising, sponsorship and public relations. Each of the three sectors is delivered in their own five-week module that culminates with either a module test or a major assignment as the core evaluation methods of the course. This course does not have an exam. In each module, students have the opportunity to explore the key concepts, best practices and industry standards surrounding each of the respective sector topics. Students have the opportunity to speak with industry professionals as guest speakers in the classroom, explore relevant and timely readings from industry sources, and apply their learning on a field trip and through assignments, including the creation of a sponsorship package and event press release.
