Course Code

Academic Year

2016-2017

This course introduces students to theories and models of restorative justice. Students examine the models and practices of restorative justice within various criminal justice organizations, as well as contrasting restorative justice practices within a variety of differing cultural contexts. As future community and justice service professionals, our work will involve assessing and managing some of society's most challenging behaviors - criminal activity. Society's intolerance to crime and delinquency has grown and so have the demands within our correctional programs. Gone are those days when only criminal attitudes and behaviors were considered to be the focus of these programs. We are now expected to effectively manage more complex, complicated, and challenging offenders - those with "special needs".
