This course will introduce the student to legal theory and administrative procedures in a real estate law practice as well as an introduction to a civil litigation practice. Topics will include legal terminology, client records, real estate documents for a buyer and a seller and related correspondence, and initial procedures for civil litigation, including the court system, resources, retainers, and authorizations. The student will use Microsoft 2010 and Teraview (e-reg) software in a simulated setting of a professional law office environment. Practical experience will be provided through a field placement in a law office for the final week.
