Students examine the relationship between sport and tourism, its history, and its relationship with and impact on social, cultural, economic, and natural environments. Events, facilities, activities, natural resources and government policies are considered as part of a strategy to develop and promote Canadian destinations for sport tourism. Students are encouraged to view sport tourism both from the point of view of the tourist and the provider of sport tourism services. Using several different sports and sporting event case studies, students are provided with a comprehensive overview of sport tourism s products, marketing and management functions.
