This course introduces students to the basics of making short films, expanding on the knowledge and skills gained in Film Survey and Photography + Video 1. Three short films are created. Students study the initial stages of pre-production, story development, basic scripting (in association with Scriptwriting + Storytelling), production design, location scouting and organization. Production is introduced including camera operations (in association with Photography + Video 2), basic lighting setups and sound capture. Students gather images on digital cameras and then proceed with post-production (in association with Audio + Video Editing or Effects ) using Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition software. Students learn how to execute basic edit techniques, create titles and credits, mix sound with picture, and gain a basic understanding of post-production.
