In-Car Driving Instructor Training

This course will get you working in the field as a Driving Instructor. Our partner, who teach the program, Canadian Pro Drivers, deliver an extensive course that gets you ready to be a Driving Instructor in the Province of Ontario.

Our course includes: Collision Scene management for the driving instructor, a first-aid course designed specifically for the driving instructor, Defensive Driving Course, The Highway Traffic Act, Prevention and Intervention (a life-saving course for the new driving instructor), use of CPD vehicles.

All classes take place in person at The Humber Transportation Training Center, ETS Building, 30 Carrier Drive, Toronto, M9W 4T7.

The program is offered in two formats to help with busy schedules.

Full-time program

  • ​​Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm for 4 weeks.

Part-time program

  • Monday and Wednesday, 6:00pm to 10:30pm, and Sunday 8:00am to 1pm for 11 weeks.

To obtain a Driving Instructor's licence in Ontario, you must successfully obtain the Driver Instructor Application Form (from DRIVETEST) and complete a Ministry of Transportation approved training course such as this one.

REFUND POLICY:

Transfers and cancellations are accepted in writing up to 3 weeks prior to the course start date, a $100 cancellation fee applies. NO REFUNDS are permitted after this date.

The fee for the program is $3,400 payable in one installment. There is no HST or further costs.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • A good driving record with no demerit points and the ability to meet the Ministry of Transportation - Ontario (MTO) requirements.
  • Applicants must have four or more years of valid driving experience (not classed as novice in Ontario).
  • Prior to registering for this course, please go to the nearest Driver Examination Centre and obtain a “Driving Instructor Application Form”, complying with all requirements.
  • Please visit Drive Test or MTO web site to obtain the MTO’s standard on becoming a Driver Instructor in Ontario.
