Evolving digital technologies have empowered the storyteller to create immersive, experiential narratives that engage and activate audiences. While ‘traditional’ mediums like film, television, radio were dominant modes in the twentieth century, we have entered an era characterized by what Transmedia guru Henry Jenkins calls “convergence culture.” Advances in device mobility, synchronicity, and interactivity now allow us to tell stories across platforms thereby redefining the role of the audience. In this intensive two-week program, students will work in teams to ideate, design, and produce a transmedia treatment meant to disrupt and redefine the audience’s perception of a brand, cause, or concept assigned to each team. Employing a design thinking approach, students will produce Transmedia output ranging from interactive video campaigns to augmented reality experiences, leaving each student with a range of new skills and an impressive portfolio item.
