New Program Ideas

Program Planning, Development and Renewal receive requests to consider many new program ideas each year. These come from a variety of sources, for example:  administrators, faculty, Program Advisory Committees, student focus groups, and College Council.

Conceptual Overview

PPDR consultants in partnership with schools assess which ideas have the greatest chance of success in the current context, considering factors such as comparator programs in the GTA, labour market needs, student demand, synergies across Humber schools, and strategic fit with Humber’s goals. The academic deans present informally at Academic Leadership Council (ALC) to gain support for the idea.
Evaluation of the Idea
PPDR facilitates the completion of an analysis to be presented at Core Strategic Enrolment Management (Core SEM 1) Committee for their first evaluation. Core SEM Team evaluates the analysis against a set rubric and reports findings back to deans.
Executive Approval
Core SEM 1 makes a recommendation to the executive team on whether to carry the development work forward. With executive approval, the program idea moves into the formal phases of Program Design and Development, further described in that section of the PPDR website.
