Facing a new school year – together

Every year I look forward to September and the opportunity to welcome all of you back to campus. This year, I am welcoming you to different sort of termbut with the same close, connected Humber College community

Since the closure of our campuses in March, students, faculty and staff have all adapted to a new way of life and we have proven to be resilient. Through it all, Humber has remained focused on providing students with the highest quality education to prepare them for their future careers.

COVID-19 has challenged us, but we have taken the pandemic-related changes as opportunities to innovate and create new ways of instruction that will carry us through this challenge - and beyond.

Sixty per cent of our programs will be delivered online this semester, while the remainder will be taught through a combination of virtual and hands-on learning. You can learn more about our Return to Campus plan on a new microsite which has information for both students and staff. We are investing in online learning tools and supports so students have what they need to succeed in a new and ever-changing world.

The college will continue to follow all public health recommendations and remains committed to the health and safety of the entire Humber community.

You will notice signage indicating health and safety measures on the doors, floors and walls. We have also updated the Campus Compass app. It now shows you what services are available in-person at both Lakeshore and North Campuses. We have also posted a list of student services available online and on campus.

You will also be required to complete a self-assessment on the Guardian App before coming to campus each time.

We know that every student at Humber has their own story to tell and their own set of unique circumstances. We will work to understand those needs and continue to provide services that support student success.

We encourage you to connect with your colleagues, peers and community members to check on their well-being, discuss the changes or catch-up and share a laugh.

And though this term will be different, we are in it #HumberTogether.
