Digital Art | Digitally Generated Art | 8 in x 10 in | Original Piece | Thinking of a way to represent themes such as equity, diversity, and inclusion is what sparked the idea of the art work. Living in a world where there are many people who are just as unique and important as each other, Fly Along was created with the focus to capture that fact. Although everyone is different, it is not impossible to find a way to help others walk forward together. | 2022 | Jessica | Senephimmachack | Visual and Digital Arts | Lakeshore Campus | Faculty/Staff, Email | 07-03-2022

Colour Photography | Digital Photography | 13.44x22.5 | Original Piece | " Mary Amidst Snowy Silence" after experiencing a profound moment of tranquility during a winter journey. I was captivated by the tranquil atmosphere of a remote shrine situated in a snowy environment, where a figure of Mother Mary stood as a beacon of comfort and hope. The pure covering of snow encircling the statue provided a tranquil backdrop, heightening the otherworldly feel of the composition. The beautiful glimmer of the sky illuminated the statue, imbuing it with heavenly presence and elegance. I was extremely touched by the contrast between the beautiful snowscape and Mary's placid visage, which evoked a profound sense of serenity and devotion. It demonstrates the enduring power of religion and the transformational beauty of nature. It invites visitors to reflect on the serene majesty of the winter environment and find comfort in the presence of heavenly love and protection personified by Mother Mary |

Colour Photography | Other | 4.2 X 6.5 | Original Piece | "A(symmetrical)," shows that the beauty of symmetry is not just in its perfection, but in its ability to stand out amidst the asymmetrical chaos of the world around it. I was drawn to this scene as it reflects the moments, where even amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, there exists a sense of calm and balance waiting to be discovered. I aim to evoke a sense of contemplation and appreciation for the beauty found in unexpected places. The image invites viewers to pause and consider the harmony that can emerge from the juxtaposition of order and chaos, inviting them to find serenity amidst the busyness of urban life. I chose Kodak Gold 200 Film as the film stock because it can perfectly render the warm tones of fall and especially the subtle pastel tones of the Building in the center that dominates the frame. | 2023 | Omkar | More | N01614977 | Global Business Management | IGS- International Graduate School | 25-02-2024

The mended figure made up of assembling different textures, signifies the effort required to retain her identity among the emotional hardships in the foreign land. But she isn't vibrant as before in the new environment. The leaves which are illustrated by rubbing "karapincha" (curry leaves) which are native to Asia found in a Canadian store, evokes the "exotic" feeling as same as the artist herself in a foreign land. These leaves represent all the beloved familiarities found in the new environment which makes her connected to her roots. They are the ones which keep her heart vibrant despite its broken and mended nature. She clings tightly on to these comforts which gives her strength to move forward from flickering flames of emotional difficulties. This artwork showcases the emotional challenges immigrants face and tries to enlighten other fellow immigrants the importance of clinging onto their familiarities in the new country for a smoother transition. | 2024 | Pumudi | Gardiyawasam | N01566951 | Visual and Digital Arts | Lakeshore | Social Media, Faculty/Staff, Email | 24-02-2024

Looking straight into my eyes, he swam a little closer even though the only thing in my hands was a camera. I pushed the button and captured a swan, no other thing in sight. Was he here alone? Is his lover coming back? As I leaned a little bit further, he harried away, to the centre of the small lake. The answer to my questions was silence. No swan songs, no wings flipping, no calm swimming sounds. He was here alone, this lonely little lover." This little piece was written by me on the day I took this photo. Last summer I wanted to try wildlife photography, so I started with the easiest animal I could find in Toronto - a swan. These birds are poetic, the way they bond with each other, the way they communicate, hate, love, protect... As a young person myself, I am still discovering these feelings - loneliness and sadness, and as a romantic, I always wondered how these birds could bond for life. Seeing this lonely swan made me wonder if he just started a new path or was finishing the other. Somehow I got bonded with those precious honest eyes. Oh, this lonely little lover! |

Colour Photography | Digital Photography | 20 x 13.5 | Original Piece | "ROFL: Rolling on the Floor Laughing" is a photographic tapestry that weaves together the unscripted hilarity of life's punchlines, as witnessed in the exuberant display of two dogs engrossed in play. Their tangled tufts of fur, gaping smiles, and the sheer absurdity of their tangled embrace encapsulate the essence of gut-busting mirth. It's as if they've heard the world's funniest joke and simply couldn't contain their amusement. This image is a vibrant testament to the spontaneous bursts of joy that punctuate the everyday—a visual representation of the laughter that fills the air when no one can remember the joke, but everyone remembers how it made them feel. The dogs, in their blissful contortions, are the epitome of letting go. Inspired by the spontaneous and candid nature of animal interactions, "ROFL" invites viewers into a moment of pure, uninhibited delight. It's an ode to those instances that catch us off guard, prompting a deep-seated laughter that's contagious in its authenticity. As the final frame in a reel of life's comical sketches, this photograph is not merely a capture; it's an open invitation to join in the chorus of chuckles, a shared recognition of the absurdity that surrounds us. If you heard the punchline, you would be too—rolling on the floor, laughing without end. |

Other | Pen/Ink | 5.8*8.2 | Original Piece | "Rural Rhythms" an ink-on-paper piece, exquisitely illustrates rural life. The basis of the image shows an inhabitant of a village alongside goats. This image encapsulates the daily activities of that individual who sets the rhythmic pace of rural village life. The background of the artwork has copious amounts of detail that accurately depict life in a village. Although this artwork appears to be standard and typical, the image is depicted with tenderness and care. By manifesting this scene into artwork, it becomes unique and stands out significantly. This picture profoundly indicates the connection between humans and nature, as it is a mirror to the vibrant and critical connection (with nature) that contorts the sides of rural life. In deeply embodied village life, everything that is present holds crucial significance, even for the elemental creatures that reside alongside it. The village and the person appear to be content with what is occurring. The village life is placid and often appears so complex that the village is announcing, ensuring livelihoods every day. "Rural Rhythms" entirely indicates how beautiful village life is and how significant and vigorous it is. The ink lightly splatters all across the photo; there is no real exact location as to where it goes. The splattered paint adds growth to the photo. It also gives the drawing a more energizing feeling. It helps to make it more dynamic picture. Just by looking at the picture and seeing all the splatters in it, you can almost feel the rhythm. |
