I looked to capture the raw form of "Bryan Ghee", a musical artist out of Brampton. After getting the photo developed and scanned I took it into photoshop where I wanted to enhance the mood and aesthetic that the method of film photography and the essence of nighttime on Queen Street brought to the image. In the editing process, I drew inspiration from the eerie yet bright imagery the convenience store provided. 2021 JEREMY BOUVET Digital Communication Lakeshore Campus Social Media 07-03-2022

I was inspired and intrigued to use cyanotypes after learning about anthotypes and how natural photography processes work. I chose to do an image of me staring directly into the camera and the viewer as my work tends to focus on portraits of black women and the black gaze. Black people are often viewed from lenses and there have been many accounts in my life where I have been confronted by stares ad glares from society just for simply existing as a black woman. This piece is meant to challenge the viewer as they think they are looking at my self portrait, but really, I am the one holding the power staring back at them. 2022 Georgia Acheampong Visual and Digital Art Lakeshore Faculty/Staff, Email 07-03-2022 Honourable Mention

The platform the polar bears are all standing on is meant to be the final platform that remains after all the ice in the Arctic has molten with the red representing melting, where they are looking out in despair with nowhere to go. The cracks signify this final platform is about to suddenly give way, where there is one polar bear about to fall through the cracks, which signifies their extinction if human action is not taken to prevent it. The orange sky represents worldwide forest fires which are made very possible by global warming and the deep blue below the platform represents the nothingness of the ocean waiting to rise and swallow everything. The tree with birds flying away signifies the reality that animals are losing their home because of the flora being damaged due to uninhabitable conditions. Finally, the half of the tree that is withered signifies the trees dying because of climate change but the half that is green and unwithered shows that there is still time to reverse climate change, as I hope we can do in time. 2024 JOHNATTAN RAMCHARRAN N01474759 Electrical Engineering Technology - Control Systems North Email 25-02-2024

As a child in special ed, my class was generally not included in a lot of activities, like field trips and activity days. We were often left feeling very disappointed. Now, as an adult, I realize that we lost out on so much more than just the fun events.

In high school, I was in a class full of intelligent outside the box thinkers. There were artists, musicians and comedians. One thing we all had in common was that the education provided for us did not enable us to go to post-secondary school in a traditional way. Many of my school friends have ended up in minimum wage jobs or floating around not knowing what to do. I got into post secondary as a mature student. Now that I'm in college, I realize that I lack many of the basic abilities necessary to succeed on my own.

The special Education students hands were tied up as soon as you enter those classroom doors and our futures have been limited by the people who were supposed to help us succeed in life.

This photo is my portrayal of the special education experience, the cage, is limiting access to the required knowledge and, at the same time, is isolating the subject from her peers in the mainstream classrooms. The letters scattered on the ground represent dyslexia. The letters are difficult to see just as others can't see that she has dyslexia, so they don't fully understand why she isn't learning at the same pace as everyone else. This causes people to be frustrated and short-tempered with her, and she is often thought to be lazy. Kids with learning disables aren't lazy. We are stuck in small cages call the 'Special' Ed class.

My reference for this piece was a photo of my aunt back home in Ghana, someone who I really admire and her sense of style reflects her personality. She is very outgoing, fun to be around and energetic and I really wanted the colours of her outfit and headscarf to reflect that. I titled the piece 'Sunday Best"; as the term refers to when someone is dressed in their best clothes, often for special occasions. Here I illustrated my aunt to be in her "Sunday Best" as she is someone that I know loves to look and feel their best. Something i resonate with myself. 2023 Georgia Acheampong Visual and Digital Art Lakeshore Faculty/Staff, Email 07-03-2022
