Humber students will start the school year with a little more cash in their pockets, thanks to the rent-a-text program starting this fall.
In September, about 200 titles in the college’s bookstore will be available for students to rent for up to 55 per cent off the retail price.
That means students could rent a textbook valued at $100 for approximately $45.
Humber’s bookstore is operated by Follett of Canada, which will also offer the rental program at Carleton University in Ottawa, St. Clair College in Windsor and the University of Winnipeg.
The program has been successful in more than 600 campus bookstores across the United States.
Students will be allowed to highlight and take notes as part of the wear and tear associated with study. They will also have the choice to buy the book at the end of the term.
