Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, divisions in our society have become increasingly apparent. These divisions relate to inequitable access to resources based on race, gender, sexuality, disability and other identity constructs. As an institution, Humber works to address these challenges and support our community.

This weekend, as protests were held in Ottawa, there were also acts of racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, and more.

Humber condemns all acts of hate.

Humber is committed to fostering a working, learning and living...

I am pleased to share with you that Humber College has risen to second place on Research Infosource Inc.’s list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges, and is the top ranked college in Ontario.

Research Infosource Inc. publishes an annual list of college research leaders. Since placing 44th in the inaugural list in 2011, Humber has been a rising leader. Masked MPP Jill Dunlop bends over a large, FESTO-branded machine with students and officials in the background, all masked
Ontario’s Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop announced micro-credential funding at Humber College's Lakeshore campus earlier this month.

This year, the Humber community continued to show its flexibility, resiliency and perseverance. As we adapted to a changing environment, Humber students, faculty and staff overcame challenges, found new ways to engage and innovate, and produced work that inspires. Our collective creativity and innovation continue to show how we provide the best in polytechnic education and training. I hope you all feel proud of your work and accomplishments. I know I do.

In my last blog of 2021, I have some campus updates to share.

Three wide computer screens sit atop large computers on a long desk in the B2C lab. They show colourful graphs and and documents. There is a large window behind the computers showing a glimpse of the next room.

At Humber College, we pride ourselves on being leaders in all we do, including pushing the boundaries of technology, innovation and creativity. And we will push them even further in 2022.

The Humber Broadband Convergence B²C Lab, housed at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation, is the first of its kind in North America. Phase one of the lab is now operational and will be ready for students, faculty and industry to begin to research and harness the possibilities of ATSC 3.0 technology in early 2022.

ATSC 3.0 is the next-generation global television broadcast standard set to replace the current standard (ATSC 1.0) in North America. The broadcast system...

Humber College is known for its approach to hands-on and work-integrated learning, and it has remained a central focus throughout our 54-year history.

As the world changed abruptly in 2020, we developed new programs and modes of delivery so that our learners had the opportunity to gain practical, career-related experience while studying online or in a hybrid format.

We incorporated virtual work placements, applied research and skills development challenges into our curriculums and created more pathways between credentials, breaking down barriers to further education.

Now, with a more widespread return to campus planned for January, we can combine the best...
